Baby Steps: Kimberlie Barrett, a multi-million dollar producer in new homes sales since 1981, opened her first real estate firm dedicated to representing builders and new home buyers in 1984. Based on her expertise, she envisioned a software program to gather and maintain complete and up-to-date information on new home communities and in 1988, she co-created The New Home Explorer®, still believed to be one of the first such systems in the country. With comprehensive information, impressive graphics and a flexible searching system, it enabled her agents to reduce hundreds of communities and thousands of building sites to a few ideal choices, in a matter of minutes, for new home clientele. She also specialized in providing developers and builders feasibility studies, market analyses, marketing plans and professional sales training to reduce the risk associated with the development and building process. In addition, her team managed contingency sales and worked with buyers and sellers of existing residential property. In 1994, Kim opened Magellan®, Inc.
Giant Leaps: A true visionary, Kim responded to the economic times and the decline in new home sales and decided in late 2008 to diversify the company by adding corporate relocation, international and commercial fields of specialization alongside new construction and existing real estate to provide the buying public a variety of real estate services all under one roof.
